About
Robert has almost 30 years trade experience working in the Jewellery Industry, originally starting out as an apprentice to WW Allen where he worked as a Hand Engraver and Diesinker, then training as a silversmith and jeweller.
He was based in London as a freelance designer for several years, before returning to Birmingham to continue working the in the trade alongside teaching, originally sharing his drawing and design skills.
He is an enormously experienced Hand Engraving, Drawing, Jewellery and silversmithing tutor, recently retiring as a senior lecturer at Birmingham City University School of Jewellery after 23 years, however he still continues to teach Hand Engraving and Drawing techniques and undertake private commissions occasionally. His passion for painting and drawing continues on in his free time.
Robert has completed many prestigious silversmithing and engraving commissions over the years including the Trophy and Trainer’s prize for the King George V and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot , his work is also in the collection of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London.
