About
Originally a Jewellery graduate of Bristol's Central School of Art, this was where Jessica was introduced to the enamel works of Enamellers Fred Rich and Jane Short that inspired a method for her to add colour to her work. Jessica used traditional enamelling methods such as Champleve and Cloisonne initially for Jewellery and then larger panel enamelling works during which time began she exploring non-traditional enamelling processes, mark-making and etching.
From 2007-2010 Jessica was Research Fellow in Enamel at the University of Western England (UWE) during which time the emphasis of her research was the application of enamel onto the three dimensional forms. At this time she also undertook an MA in Printmaking at UWE Bristol.
Jessica's contemporary conceptual Enamelling has been exhibited Nationally and Internationally.
With over 30 years teaching experience, Jessica's teaches in a wide variety of Schools including Central St Martins, and Edinburgh College of Art and she shares her skills by offering one-to-one enamelling tuition in her Bristol studio.
Her approach to teaching is to build students' technical skills and confidence with enamel so that they are able to develop a personal visual language through play, experimentation and discovery.
