Course Description
This specially designed course introduces you to the art of creating beautiful contemporary necklaces or bracelets.
You'll learn how to securely string beads and pearls, how to incorporate small mementos such silver shapes or small objects.
The focus of the day is on using pearl stringing and knotting techniques combined with basic traditional jewellery-making methods like cutting metal, drilling holes, hammering, filing, and burnishing to create a unique piece of contemporary jewellery with its own narrative.

Learning techniques for creating the correct space and tension between beads

Choosing the right size and type of thread

Adding a clasp to your jewellery for a professional finish

Simple ways to incorporate sterling silver into your designs

Use of basic jewellery making tools such as; Pliers, Files, Piercing Saw, Drill and Burnisher.


Throughout the course, you'll receive step-by-step guidance from your tutor, Nobuko, a contemporary jeweller whose work specializes in combining precious metals with beads and pearls to create stunning contemporary jewellery.

This course is also an ideal way to create jewellery for memorial purposes.

No previous Jewellery making experience is required.
IMPORTANT: Course Materials
The focus of this course is to combine design thinking and practical making to create a contemporary necklace.
Materials are not included in the course fee, because this allows you to freely design and make a necklace or bracelet using pearls, beads, small items, clasps, and silver that you bring with you. This ensures that what you create is authentic to your own design style.

The tutor also has a small treasure trove of beads, pearls, and clasps available for optional purchase if you wish to practice with different materials.

Note: This course does not include wireworking or bead weaving techniques.

What is the course date?
All private tuition courses are arranged upon request on a date to suit you, subject to tutor availability.
We will provides some course dates for you to choose from or you can ask about a course date of day of the week preference.
About the Course Fee
Courses are priced individually because the course fee is based upon the fee a tutor charges to take a day out their trade works to teach.
About Materials
Materials (Pearls /Silver/Clasps are NOT included in the course fee. We need you to bring your own choice of materials so that you can create a design that is personal for you.

OPTIONAL: You can pay the tutor directly for any materials that she has in stock, which does include beads/pearls and fixings.
​
Bespoke Courses are tailored to suit individual makers needs regarding design and tuition.
Booking/Payment Information
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (Paypal for International students)

Installments
Some courses are available to pay in installments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.
Booking Information

Once you have booked a cancellation fee of *£120 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish.

Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full. Please note, travel and accommodation booked is not eligible for a refund/reimbursement, if you are worried about this we recommend you contact your own Insurer for advice.
