Course Description
This day introduces you to the intricate technique of setting melee gemstones in the beautiful, elegant fishtail style.
Course content includes; Essential tool / graver preparation, marking/preparing the ring band top and side relief, detail and seat cutting and setting and securing the gemstones.

Tuition is provided by a Professional Stonesetter who shares his tips of the trade for creating and completing this intricate setting style for Infinity/Eternity style rings.

Materials
Because the fishtail setting is intricate it requires practise to accomplish and you will need at least 4 castings with CZ for tuition practise during the course day, a Stonesetting kit suitable for fishtail comprising of 4x silver castings c/w CZ can be purchased separately or you may bring your own castings with CZ for practise if you prefer. If you wish to do this the tutor can provide guidance on casting type to bring if We will provide an accurate stonesetting kit price when you make an enquiry.

Tools
Students are required to bring their own flat engraver and a square engraver.
A very useful course of practical tuition for Jewellers makers with step-by step instruction for refining techniques from a highly experienced industry stonesetting practitioner and tutor.

The Stonesetting day was great, thank you. The course was really good, we covered everything that was planned and the tutor was really good at adjusting the plan for the day depending on my strengths and weaknesses as the emerged.
Having this course as one on one was really the way to go as I was able to ask lots of questions and really see what was happening with the demonstrations.
It was worthwhile planning in advance what I wanted to cover as we were able to hit the ground running and work out where my current skill level sat so the tutor could focus on tips and tricks to move me on.
I would absolutely recommend this course to another Jeweller/Goldsmith

What is the course date?
All private tuition courses are arranged upon request on a date to suit you, subject to tutor availability.
We will provides some course dates for you to choose from or you can ask about a course date of day of the week preference.
About the Course Fee
Courses are priced individually because the course fee is based upon the fee a tutor charges to take a day out their trade works to teach.
About Materials
Precious Metals or stones cannot be included in the course fee.
This is because Bespoke Courses are tailored to suit individual makers needs.
Therefore you bring your own sample jewellery and stones for practice setting.

You can ask to purchase a Stonesetting Kit. Comprising of 4x silver castings and/or stones.
We add this cost to your invoice.
Booking/Payment Information
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (IBAN for International students.

Instalments
Some courses are available to pay in instalments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.
Booking Information

Once you have booked a cancellation fee of *£95 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish.

Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full. Please note, travel and accommodation booked is not eligible for a refund/reimbursement, if you are worried about this we recommend you contact your own Insurer for advice.
