Course Description
​An informative and enjoyable practical day of learning about a Sapphires from an experienced Gemmologist.
With step-buy-step guidance you will will handle and view Sapphires through standard gemmology tools to learn important factors about cut and rough material. ​​
Your course content will include;

​Essential quality indicators for Sapphires, (carat, cut, clarity etc)

Observing colour differences & brightness

A brief introduction to heat treatments

Basic identification markers and methods

A brief introduction to synthetic /imitation stones

The origin & composition of your chosen stone

Using Gemmology Tools
This one day course also includes effective techniques for using a 10x Lens, holding a stone correctly and introduces you to other useful simple Gemmological Instruments.
This course will not make a Gemmologist of you in a day however it has been designed to give you a good introduction to the Gemstone of your choice.
An enjoyable, fascinating and informative day of discovery about Sapphires, and a helpful preliminary course for anyone considering Buying, Selling or using Sapphires in Jewellery.

No previous gemmology knowledge or experience of Sapphires is required.

What is the course date?
For this course dates are arranged regularly throughout the year. If we do not have a course date in the diary when you ask we will arranged a course date to suit you, subject to tutor availability.
Tuition Hours: 6; ​Start time 9.30am; Finish time 4.30pm. Lunch break is included, bring your own lunch
About the Course Fee
Courses are priced individually because the course fee is based upon the fee a tutor charges to take a day out their industry/trade work to teach.

Gem material and all gemmology equipment and Tools are provided by the tutor for the purposes of learning.

Booking/Payment Information
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (IBAN SWIFT or Paypal for International students).

Installments
Some courses are available to pay in installments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.
Booking Information

Once you have booked a cancellation fee of **£120 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish.

Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full. Please note, travel and accommodation booked is not eligible for a refund/reimbursement, if you are worried about this we recommend you contact your own Insurer for advice.
