Helen is an award winning silversmith specialising in the traditional decorative technique of filigree wire work. She achieved her BA Hons degree in Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts at London Guildhall University in 2005, then went on to complete her postgraduate studies at the Bishopsland Educational Trust in Berkshire. Here Helen refined her skills and studied the art of filigree under the expert tuition of Armenian Jeweller Stepan Terteryan whose Filigree work is internationally acclaimed.
Helen chose to work with the now rare craft of filigree work for it's unique ability to combine aesthetic beauty with engineering challenge.
She has 15 years experience of teaching jewellery techniques and runs courses from her home workshop on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Dean. Teaching is an integral part of Helen's silversmithing practice as it gives her the opportunity to truly immerse herself in the technical aspects of making and pass on skills to another generation of jewellers.
