Introduction to Laser Cutting / Marking / Engraving
Working with Acrylic and/or Plywood for Jewellery
Jewellery Techniques : 1-Day Course
All tutors work are professional jewellers or are jewellery trade specialists who are willing to share their expertise and trade secrets.
Starting with the design process the tutor will show you how to use freely available design software to create vector files that are used by the laser to create the engraving or cutting pattern.
The emphasis of the course is to provide a starting point for creatives to make use of Laser Technology for Jewellery and to provide inspiration for future projects.
In this instance your will learn how to make a laser cut pendant in acrylic or plywood.
Depending on your tutor choice you can explore the following areas;
Exploring design ideas and making a piece of simple Jewellery in Acrylic or Plywood to demonstrate the process. (Tutor A & B)
Laser Marking / Engraving Design Techniques (Tutor A & B)
Sublimation printing onto acrylic. This technique allows the transferring of colour images, graphics or text to acrylic surfaces by using specialist inks. (Tutor A only)
How to add acrylic paint into engraved acrylic for added colour. (Tutor A & B)
Add colour washes to plywood before lacquering. (Tutor A only)
Tutor: Tutor A is Cal based in Derbyshire and Tutor B is Rosa based in Bristol
A standard amount of material for practise is provided. If you are a quick learner and want to make more pieces you pay the tutor directly for the additional materials.
For this course your need to have basic computer skills and you must have your own laptop you can take to the course.
The tutor suggests you might like to bring ideas/mood board, images etc with you if you wish.
DESIGNS & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
On occasion students may create a mood board containing found images collated as inspiration for future projects.
Found images / designs will be the Intellectual Property of original artist and this means the tutor cannot show students how to recreate these designs even if the material used is different. To do would be an infringement of Intellectual Property Rights. (Similar to Copyright)
Course Fee and Course Date
A large portion of the course fee quoted is paid to the tutor. because, it’s their experience and expertise that you are paying for.
In addition a there is a small fee for arranging your course which is included in the total course fee.

Why are course fee's different?
Because the course fee is mainly determined by each individual tutor's day rate.
The course date is for you to decide, subject to tutor availability.
Simply enquire about a couple of preferred course date options and I will check the tutor availability for you.
The tutor provides materials for you to create one pendant to enable practise of the design & Laser process.
You pay the tutor directly for any additional materials if your progress allows you make more than one items.
Tutors & Course Fee

Decide when you might like your course to take place then "Make a Course Enquiry" and advise your details on the form provided.
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by PayPal or BACS invoicing.
Once you have booked a cancellation fee of £75 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.
Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may rearrange your course for another date if you wish.
Should I need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances I will refund your course fee in full.
