Areas of expertise
Initially Art College graduate Matt began his journey as a Goldsmith following an inspiring visit to Cairo Museum’s Ancient Egyptian Jewellery section. This rekindled an interest in traditional jewellery fabrication methods, and sparked a research and development period, finalised by a Jewellery and Silversmithing BA Hons Degree (1st class) Sunderland University.
Matt has also studied under Master Silversmith Robert Birch and Esteemed Jeweller Katherine Campbell-Legg.
Matt’s work concentrates on designing bespoke handmade Jewellery using Silver, Gold and Gemstones, he is an advocate of Fairtrade practises and is registered as a Fair Trade Goldsmith.
He creates bespoke commissions in his Jewellery studio in Newcastle and he works in collaboration with other Goldsmiths to create beautiful works using his Diamond Mounting and Setting skills.
