Course Description
This introductory course is designed to help you learn the basic methodology for assessing:

Rough Diamond whereby the diamond is uncut and unpolished after mining is completed.

Cut / Polished whereby the diamond is cut / faceted and polished ready for setting.
Grading
This practical course has been designed to provide you with more information about Diamonds and how understanding the Grading process can provide you with important and useful facts about Diamond characteristics. The tutor will explain the basics about why and how diamond grades differ and what is involved in the polished diamond grading process with regard to how colour, cut and clarity, along with other important factors.
With step-by-step guidance from an experienced Gemmologist and Diamond Grader you will handle and view Diamonds using standard Diamond grading tools and learn about: How colour and clarity is graded; Diamond Shapes/Anatomy. Also included in this course is how rough and cut diamond material is priced/evaluated and important pricing factors about Diamonds in today's marketplace.

Valuation
During the course you will be looking at and discussing a variety of different qualities of rough & cut diamonds to enable you to gain a further understanding about their properties and the impact these may have on the cutting process and you will learn how to use the Rapaport Diamond report to build your own diamond pricing reference system to assist assessing diamonds for value in future.

Although Diamonds are a wide subject area, this is an ideal introductory course, and no previous gemmology experience is required.
This course has been designed to be a useful for Jewellery Retailers to aid product knowledge and selling practises, for Jewellery Makers regarding gemstone selection and to be of interest for those who buy and enjoy Diamond Jewellery.
A very helpful preliminary course, for those considering undertaking a Gem-A Diamond Diploma course.

What is the course date?

Payment Terms
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (IBAN for International students.

Instalments
Some courses are available to pay in instalments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.
Booking Terms

Once you have booked a cancellation fee of £95* will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish.

Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full.
