This course offers the perfect opportunity for you to obtain many Tips of the Trade from a highly experienced Goldsmith who specialises in the use of organic casting techniques.

Cuttlefish Casting

Learn how to carve and press patterns into the surface material and how to prepare the cuttlefish for casting by adding fixing keys, sprues and the casting channel and sealing the final mold.

Delft Clay Sand Casting

Delft Clay Sand is a type of moldable clay that allows model to be pressed into its surface without losing shape, allowing for sharper castings.

Learn about the preparation of a delft clay frame and how to create the impression in clay from your model. Discover best practise for creating sprues, air holes, and carving out a casting channel.


For both techniques obtain tips for calculating casting silver usage and preparing and heating your metal and techniques for cleaning up the cast item.

A really useful course for jewellers wishing to try out organic casting methods.

A large portion of the course fee quoted is paid to the tutor. because, it’s their experience and expertise that you are paying for.

Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by PayPal or BACS invoicing.


Booking Terms

  • Once you have booked a cancellation fee of £65 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.


  • Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for another date if you wish. 


  • Should I need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances I will refund your course fee in full.
