Course Description
​​Unlock your creative potential with our Introduction to Jewellery Design course.

With guided tuition you will discover and practise the design processes used by professional jewellers to find basic ideas for Jewellery design, and to develop these concepts constructively to create original feasible jewellery designs and design collections.​​
Course Content

Observation Skills: Develop your ability to see the world differently and uncover endless design possibilities. Learn to transform patterns, shapes, and everyday interactions into unique design ideas.

Pattern and Shape Transformation: Explore how simple patterns and shapes can become design ideas.

Creative Inspiration: Explore how stories, texts, languages, and more can inspire new design concepts with guidance from your tutor.

Collating and organising ideas: Discover the importance of mood boards, learn how to create them, and use them to capture your inspirations and ideas and other useful online resources you may find helpful for arranging your ideas.

Design Development: Learn basic methods for converting a design concept into a tangible design idea using simple sketchbook techniques, the emphasis being on the importance of quickly recording your ideas without being limited by your drawing skills.

How a design concept can be used to create a compilation of ideas for a Jewellery collection.
Initially the tutor will introduce you to basic observation skills so that you can really see the World and its potential for design ideas wherever you look. You will then explore how patterns and shapes can be transformed into design ideas and with tutor guidance explore how stories, text, language or interactions with your environment can also prompt a narrative for new design ideas.

The tutor will explain collage mood boards, why they are useful tool and how to use them to successfully capture your initial inspirations.
In the second part of your course you will review the ideas created and the tutor will introduce you to basic methods for converting a design concept into a real design idea via simple sketchbook design development, the emphasis being on the importance of recording your ideas in a quick simple way, to avoid being limited by drawing skills.
Course Suitable for anyone.
No previous experience of Jewellery making or design is required for this course, which is open to anyone who would like to explore creating thinking to create design ideas and developing these into real designs.

HOW ONLINE TEACHING WORKS

Tuition is delivered interactively via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
​
You join free Microsft Teams or Zoom before the course, the tutor will advise accordingly. About 30 minutes before the course your tutor emails you a link to join your one-to-one course session.

Open Microsft Teams or Zoom on your PC or Laptop

NOTE: You need to have a microphone on your PC or Laptop.

What is the course date?
All private tuition courses are arranged upon request on a date to suit you, subject to tutor availability.
We will provides some course dates for you to choose from or you can ask about a course date or day of the week preference.
About the Course Fee
Courses are priced individually because the course fee is based upon the fee a tutor charges to take a day out their trade works to teach.
About Materials
The tutor will advice what materials you will need to have ready for your course.

Booking/Payment Information
Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (IBAN SWIFT or PayPal for International students).

Instalments
Some courses are available to pay in instalments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.
Booking Information

Once you have booked a cancellation fee of *£150 will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish.

Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full. Please note, travel and accommodation booked is not eligible for a refund/reimbursement, if you are worried about this we recommend you contact your own Insurer for advice.
