How to Design Jewellery course _ the Bes

This course has been designed to introduce anyone interested in designing jewellery to a variety of techniques used by professional Jewellers  for generating original ideas for jewellery designs.

​

The emphasis of this course is for you to gain an understanding of the design process. Firstly  by learning to observe the World differently appreciate its beauty and imperfections to find basic ideas for Jewellery, and learn techniques for developing these concepts constructively to create original jewellery designs.

 

The tutor will introduce you to basic observation skills so that you can really see the World and its potential for design ideas wherever you look. You will explore how patterns and shapes can be transformed into design ideas and with tutor guidance explore how stories, text, language or interactions with your environment can also prompt a narrative for new design ideas.

You will also learn about collage mood boards, why they are useful tool and how to use them to successfully capture your initial inspirations.

  • Introduction to design resources

  • Critical observation techniques: Pattern, Shape, Form etc

  • Collating ideas & Essential tips for using a Mood Board

  • Developing design ideas

  • Sketchbook Design Development

How to Design Jewellery course at the Be

In the second part of your course you will review the ideas created and the tutor will introduce you to basic methods for converting a design concept into a real design idea via simple sketchbook design development, the emphasis on this second session being on the importance of recording your ideas in a simple way, to initially avoid being limited by drawing methods.

  

No previous experience of Jewellery making or design is required for this course, which is open to anyone who would like to explore creating thinking to create design ideas and developing these into real designs.

The course date is set by you, so that you can undertake a tuition session at your convenience.

 

All dates / times of course sessions are subject to tutor availability.

Start time are generally 10am GMT London Time but this can be adjusted slightly to suit.

About the Course Fee

A large portion of the course fee quoted is paid to the tutor, because, it’s their expertise that you pay for.

​

Where there is a selection of tutors,  course, fee's may vary due to individual tutor requirements for teaching.

 

In addition a there is a small fee for arranging your course which is included in the total course fee.

Payment

Course fee payment is required in advanced by BACS Bank Transfer invoice or IBAN for international students.

​

Booking Information

Payment Terms

Payment is required in advance and payments are handled safely and securely by BACS Bank Transfer invoicing (IBAN for International students.

​

Instalments

Some courses are available to pay in instalments, whereby a non-refundable deposit is required to book your course date. Please ask for details if this is of interest to you.

 

Booking Terms

  • Once you have booked a cancellation fee of £80*  will be deducted from your refund if you cancel your course up to and including 14 days prior to the start of the course once your payment has been received.

 

  • Cancellations received within 14 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund, however you may re-arrange your course for one other date if you wish. 

 

  • Should we need to cancel your course due to unforeseen circumstances we will refund your course fee in full.

​

  • Practical Courses  | Covid-19 If a course has to be postponed in order to comply with Public Health England guidelines, we will in the first instance rearrange the course on a mutually convenient date, however if we are not able to do this within 3 months of your original course date due to ongoing Lockdown restrictions we will refund your course fee payment in full.

​

* Amount is variable depending on the duration and type of the course.  When you enquire, out quote reply will provide the actual cancellation amount applicable. £75 applies to a standard one day course.

HOW ONLINE TEACHING WORKS

Tuition is delivered interactively via Zoom.
​

You join free at Zoom.us before the course and the tutor emails you a link to join your one-to-one course session just before the agreed start time.

​

  • You simply copy the meeting code provided in the link

  • Open Zoom on your PC or Laptop

  • Click join meeting and paste your meeting code into the box provided.
