About
Contemporary Jewellery designer Collette’s creative history began in 1992 where she graduated from Humberside School of Art before specialising in jewellery. She then completed her Jewellery studies in 1995 at the world famous Birmingham School of Jewellery (BCU) achieving a BA Honours in Silversmithing and Jewellery..
After graduating from The School of Jewellery, Collette has remained close to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter where she started her own jewellery business, recently designing and building a specially designed Making and Teaching studio.
Working on a variety of private commissions, she simultaneously established her own commercial brand, by building relationships with retailers selling contemporary jewellers which has led to her work currently being exhibited/sold in a wide range of UK contemporary jewellers, galleries and museums.
Collette’s very successful jewellery brand is acclaimed and she has won commercial recognition, being awarded; Best product range at British Craft Trade Fair (1998), Jewellery Designer of the Year / Business Development (2002) Chamber of Commerce and in 2014 she was awarded Jewellery Designer of the Year by the respected British Jewellers Association.
An advocate of Fairtrade practises, Collette’s designs are a fusion of influences taken from nature, history and travel combined with the technical exploration of archaic metal forging and forming techniques.
Her original designs are individually crafted in silver and gold by hand using the wealth of her knowledge, style and techniques; Thus Collette’s forte is her wide ranging knowledge of hand-making techniques and industry technology and the fusion of this knowledge to craft a design idea into a beautiful desirable commercial product or bespoke “Hero” piece of Jewellery.
